Is W-A-L-K and its staff bonded and insured?
Yes. We are bonded and fully insured. Copies of our policies are available upon request at any time.

What services does W-A-L-K offer?
We offer vacation sittings with one to three daily visits, extended overnight visits, mid-day private dog walking, pet taxi service, quick stop visits, and puppy and kitten checks.

Will W-A-L-K take my dog on a walk during pet sitting?
Yes! Taking your dog out walking is an included part of our service during pet sitting! Your dog must be generally controllable on a leash and must not show any signs of aggression towards people or other dogs we may encounter while on our outings. For safety reasons and to adhere to the leash laws, your dog must be walked on a leash and will not be allowed to free-run outside of your enclosed yard.

What kind of pets does W-A-L-K provide services for?
We provide pet care for dogs, cats, birds, and small caged pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, etc.

Are there any types of pets W-A-L-K cannot service?
Due to safety reasons, we cannot provide care for aggressive pets or pets that have a history of aggression or biting. We also cannot provide services for pet snakes as we have trouble feeding one live pet to another! The only exception to this is if your snake has been fed prior to your departure and will not need feeding until your return.

What areas does W-A-L-K service?
We currently service the San Fernando Valley & Los Angeles

Does W-A-L-K come meet our pets before the start of services?

Yes! Prior to the start of services, we will arrange a convenient time and date to come by and meet you and your pets. These free initial "meet & greet" consultations allow everyone to get to know each other better, and provide an opportunity to show us where supplies such as food are kept, go over client forms, acquire keys, and address any questions or concerns you may have. We may even want to play with Rover to build a trusting relationship.

How are house key exchanges arranged?
If you are comfortable with W-A-L-K, we will acquire house keys at your initial consultation. If you haven't made a decision at that time, you have two options for key arrangements. We offer key pickup & drop off services for each session (stop by- $15) or we can keep your key on file for future pet services at no charge. For safety reasons, we will not lock your key in your home on our final visit as this leaves us with no way to return to continue caring for your pets in the event you are unable to make it home as planned. We may, however, leave your key with another person or neighbor if this person is named on your client forms and is pre-arranged.

What are your service hours?
Our regular service hours are from 8am to 6pm with our last visit of the night beginning at 6pm. In the event your pets require earlier or later visits outside our regular service hours, we will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability. Although we try to perform visits as closely to your pets normal routine as possible, we cannot guarantee exact visit times. If your pet sitter agrees to make a visit at a time well beyond our service hours or if your pet's needs necessitates it (i.e. 5am for medications), a convenience surcharge may be assessed.

Click there for reference letter.

Does W-A-L-K offer boarding?
No, not at this time.

Does W-A-L-K only accept well-trained dogs?
No. We accept any nice, sociable able dogs to walk in our group walks. Knowing how to sit and roll-over is a plus, but not mandatory.

When the weather is very hot, are the dogs given water?
Of course. We carry water bowls, and water in our backpacks. And we always keep a keen eye out for wild sprinklers.

If it is raining or really cold, do you still go out?
Normally, yes. We recommend getting your dog a waterproof lined coat for these types of weather conditions. Labs generally don’t need coats because water does not penetrate their fur. If we see that a dog is truly having a hard time, we will take the dog home sooner. If a raft or skis are necessary we may want to reschedule.

My dog is elderly. Would an hour walk be too much for him?
It varies from dog to dog. Many elderly dogs can easily do our one hour walk.

Do our pets need to be current on their vaccinations?
In order to provide services, we require dogs and cats to be current on their rabies vaccination. Written proof of such will be requested and must be on file prior to the first day of service. Although we recommend that your pets be current on other vaccinations for health reasons. (Turn your snout and bark, Spot!)

At what age can a puppy start walking in group walks?
Generally, after about 5 to 6 months of age. We would advise you to consult with your veterinarian and give them the following information: Depending on the length of session time you choose your dog will be out for an hour walking between 1½ to 2 miles. Puppies under 5 months of age are walked in special puppy groups and for no longer than 1 hour. (Unless we find some crazy butterflies to chase!)

Does W-A-L-K ever walk dogs in the park?
Yes, whenever possible. Routes that are close to Sepulveda Basin Dog Park, Calabasas Bark Park, Laurel Canyon Dog Park usually include park walks.

What happens if two dogs get into a fight?
Very, very rarely does this happen. Our policy is to pay any medical expenses, regardless of the circumstances.

Do I have to be home when you pick up and drop off my dog?
The options are to either always be home or to entrust us with an extra set of keys. Remember, we are bonded and we have never had any problems regarding this matter. If Sparky knows how to open the door, we're okay with that too!

How far in advance should we book our dates?
We recommend making your reservations as far in advance as possible! Generally, one week is fine, however please note that we sometimes book up months in advance during holiday periods! We service pets on a first come, first served basis. For short term notice (less than 48 hours), there will be an additional fee.

Are there any minimum or maximum days of service that we must book?
There is no minimum number of days of service that you must book, however, we do not recommend pet sitting sessions that last longer than two weeks for dogs or three weeks for cats. This is for the happiness and well being of your pets. Our maximum amount of care for one session is three weeks. There is no substitute for your loving presence.

How do we pay for services?
Payment for services is expected on or before the first day of service. We accept cash or checks. Established clients may leave payment inside their home to be collected by us on the first day of service if paying by cash or check. We do not accept bones dug from the yard, rawhide chew strips or slobbery tennis balls as a valid form of payment.
